Not sure how to prepare or what to bring
to your practice?
Anyone can practice yoga. You do not need special
equipment or clothes, just a small space and a desire
for a happier, healthier life. Remember this. Below are
some hints on what to expect at a yoga class.
What do I wear?
Dress comfortably in free moving yet slightly fitted clothing.
In shoulder stand for example, you kindly lift your hips
and legs up above your
shoulders and your shirt may slide down and say hi to your
chin. You will be stretching your body beautifully, try
to wear clothes which allow for
that freedom.
Dress in layers. Some studios are rather warm. It is generally
good to warm up your body gently covered up, to keep your
muscles relaxed and beaming. However; as you feel the warmth
of your heart expand throughout the practice you may wish
you had a t-shirt on underneath too. Its also nice to have
layers, so that as you end the practice, for final relaxation
you have the opportunity to lay your mussels to rest as
you cover them up ending as
you started.
If you have long hair you may want to pull it back.
Do I need a yoga mat?
Most studios have a few extra mats; however, if you'd like
to practice at home (highly recommended, even just a few
minutes a day) or go frequently to class its great to have
your own mat .They're relatively inexpensive, about $20
, and come in a variety of colors, thicknesses and textures.
Having one that fits you is great. Remember, on the mat
the glass is always half full.
Anything else?
A good rule of thumb is to avoid practicing on a full belly.
It is recommended that you do not eat a heavy meal 3 hours
before practicing yoga. You may want to hydrate yourself
earlier in the day, giving your body at least an hour
to process the liquid.
You may want to bring a water bottle for after class to
quench your vibrant body. It does a body good.
Footwear is however you are most comfortable. Most people
practice barefoot, some wear socks.
*Please turn off your cell phone before entering class
or any other electronic materials.
Have a wonderful experience strengthening
and stretching your body. Welcome to the joy of Yoga!
